Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a hands on treatment where the practitioner uses massage techniques to relieve muscular tightness, decrease pain, increase joint range of motion, improve circulation and lymph flow. Whether you need to have a moment of relaxation, reduce muscle tension or attain relief from chronic pain, massage therapy can enhance your overall well-being. Your massage treatment can be direct billed to most health insurance plans.

We have two Registered Massage Therapists at Golden Wellness Hub Cherie Devlin and Sue Ross. Click on the link below to book with either therapist.

  • A therapeutic massage works on specific problems to relieve pain and reduce stress. Pressure is usually deeper in nature, however it does not need to cause intolerable pain to get results. The goal of this treatment is to increase range of motion and improve circulation which aids in the recovery of sore muscles. Your massage therapist will ask you what you would specifically like to work on and will then focus on those areas.

  • Craniosacral therapy is a gentle technique that uses light touch to assess the movement of fluid in and around the central nervous system. It may provide relief from a variety of symptoms and conditions including headaches, neck pain, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, neuralgia, stroke, post-concussion syndrome, and temporomandibular joint syndrome.

  • Myofascial Release is a hands-on technique that works to relax, lengthen and realign your fascia. The goal is to relieve pain, as well as increase your range of motion. It is a slow technique where the therapist uses sustained pressure to stretch and lengthen the fascia.

  • The jaw is an area that frequently causes pain in other areas such as headaches and pain in the face and neck. Your therapist can work on the external surface of the jaw but is also able to treat inside your mouth (with gloves of course) to alleviate your jaw issues. If you experience jaw clicking, grind your teeth or feel like you are clenching your jaw, this massage could be very helpful.

  • Generally a lighter style of pressure is used during this massage. Your therapist will check in with you to ensure that you are comfortable with the pressure. Relaxation massage calms the nervous system and body. It can aid in reducing stress and anxiety, help you to relax and find a deep sense of calm.

  • Absolutely!

  • It is like working out, a little soreness is normal. If you are sore for a couple of days, just like your workout the treatment may be been a little too deep. This can be largely prevented if you make sure to drink adequate water before and after your treatment. Dehydrated muscles are more likely to be sore after massage than well hydrated muscles.
